Hong Kong (CNN) In a year when all Xi Jinping craved was for things to be stable, 2022 is shaping up to be anything but. After years of careful preparation, the Chinese leader is expected to step into an almost unprecedented third term at the helm of the country and its Communist Party this fall.

시진핑 주석이 간절히 원했던 것은 단지 상황이 안정적인 한 해였으나, 2022년은 결코 그렇지않게 전개되어가고 있다. 수년간의 치밀한 준비 끝에, 시진핑 주석은 올가을 중국과 공산당의 지도자로 거의 전례 없는 세 번째 임기를 시작할 예정이다

But instead of a smooth ride, dual crises are threatening to upend the status-quo, with China's largest outbreak of Covid-19 in two years emerging at home while overseas, Russia embarks on a brutal, widely denounced invasion of Ukraine.

하지만 순조로운 진행 대신, 중국 내적으로는 코로나 발생 2년 만에 가장 많은 확진자가 발생하고 있으며, 반면 해외에서는, 러시아가 잔혹하고 많은 국가로부터 비난받는 우크라이나 침공에 착수(감행)하면서, 이중 위기가 중국의 현 상황을 뒤집을 우려가 있다.

The war comes just weeks after Beijing declared a limitless partnership with Moscow, putting China's diplomats on the back foot and pushing China to make an existential choice about its future international role.

그 전쟁은 중국이 러시아와의 제한 없는 동반자 관계를 선언한 지 불과 수 주 만에 발생하였는데, 이는 중국 외교관들을 곤경에 처하게 하고 중국의 미래의 국제적 역할에 대해 분명한 선택을 하도록 압박하고 있다.

 

While Xi's path to a third term may not be imperiled by these twin crises, both will need to be navigated carefully as the 68-year-old leader steers the country toward its twice-a-decade leadership reshuffle at the 20th Party Congress this fall.

시진핑 주석의 3선 행로가 동시에 발생한 이 두 난국으로 인해 위태롭지 않을지는 모르지만,  올가을 제20차 당 대회에서 5 년 마다(십 년에 두 번) 개최되는 지도부 개각을 준비하고 있는 중국을 이끌고 있는 68세의 지도자에게 두 난국은 모두 신중하게 처리할 필요가 있을 것이다.

As these dual crises evolve during a highly sensitive year, experts will be watching closely to see to what extent Xi moves to recalibrate China's positions both overseas and at home to ensure there are no threats posed to his historic transition into a third term.

이러한 이중 위기가 매우 민감한 해에 전개됨에 따라, 시진핑이 그의 역사적 3선 임기 전환에 어떠한 위험 요소도 없도록 만전을 기하기 위해, 국내외 모두에서 중국의 입장을 재조정하기 위해 어느 정도 규모의 조치를 취할지 전문가들이 면밀하게 주시할 것이다.

∙30 years ago it was not within the realm of possibility to have multifunctional devices for example mobile phones, multifunctional printers, and force-feedback game controllers.

∙These days almost anything we have seen in a sci-fi movie is not beyond the realms of possibility thanks to science and technology.
