New York (CNN Business) Credit Suisse pushed back Sunday after multiple media outlets reported that the Swiss investment bank had clients that included criminals, alleged human rights abusers and parties facing sanctions. "Credit Suisse strongly rejects the allegations and insinuations about the bank's purported business practices," the bank said in a news release Sunday.

The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, a non-profit reporting platform, said in a news release that a whistleblower leaked information to the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung. The OCCRP said that its investigation looked at data from more than 18,000 accounts worth more than $100 billion, opened between the 1940s and the 2010s.

비영리 신고 플랫폼인 조직범죄 및 부패신고 프로젝트(OCCRP)는 보도자료에서 내부 고발자가 독일 신문 Süddeutsche Zeitung에 정보를 누설했다고 했으며 OCCRP는 조사에서 1940년대에서 2010년대 사이에 개설된 1000억 달러 이상의 가치가 있는 18,000개 이상의 계좌로부터 자료를 면밀히 들여다 봤다고 한다.

 

The OCCRP release said the project's reporting indicates that the bank's clients include a "Yemeni spy chief implicated in torture" and Venezuelan officials accused of corruption, among others.

OCCRP 보도자료에 따르면 그 은행 고객 명단에는 고객들 중, 특히 "고문에 연루된 예멘 스파이 국장"과 부패 혐의로 기소된 베네수엘라 고위 공무원들을 포함하고 있다는 것도 그 프로젝트의 보도는 보여준다고 한다.
